Melrose Little League Update

Updated Saturday March 18, 2017 by Tim Donohue.

Melrose Little League Members,
As the days grow longer and warmer, the Melrose Little League Board of Directors is hard at work making preparations for the upcoming 2017 baseball season.  As you all now know, 2017 will be the first time in over 50 years that Little League baseball has been played in Melrose under one league.  It is sure to be an exciting season on and off the field and we are thrilled to have over 500 players, families and volunteers working together to give our children a great baseball experience.
Our board got off to a slow start as we awaited official word from Little League of American on our merger status.  We were notified in late December 2016 and have been busy making plans for the season since.
Our major division teams have been selected for 2017.  All of our coaches have been identified for our minor division teams and those teams will be drafted within the next 10 days.  Our goal is to have all of our volunteer coaches identified for our kid pitch & coach pitch divisions and have those teams drafted in early April.  We will also have our tee-ball teams in place prior to the start of April school vacation.
Opening Day has been tentatively set for Monday, April 24th, with games scheduled all week leading up to our Opening Day celebration at Lewis Monk Field on Saturday, April 29th.
We want to thank you all for your patience and continued support.
Yours in baseball,
Melrose Little League
Board of Directors
