RULES

-Batting Order:

The batting order is set for the first game and is continued into each inning. The batting order is continuous from game to game to allow equal at bats for all players throughout the season. Each player bats in order even though he/she may not have played the field that inning.

-Maximum of one time through order or three outs whichever comes first.

-Fielders:

  • Equal playing time in the field for all players.  All players will play the field.
  • It is recommended that each child play one outfield and one infield position. Use your discretion when putting kids at 1st or 3rd base.  1st base, pitcher’s position, and catcher’s position must wear a helmet.
  • The child's ability should be taken into consideration when determining positions (e.g. a child that has difficulty catching the ball should not be positioned at first base for safety reasons).

-Pitching:

Coaches will pitch overhand and use their discretion when to utilize underhand soft toss or batting tee.  No strike outs or walks.  Pitch until the kids hit.

-Coaches:

  • One coach may assist players with field positioning. Once players are set in position, the coach should position himself/herself behind the outfielders. Each team should strive to have one manager and two coaches available for each game
  • Only adults (coaches or parents) may coach the bases.
  • The team playing the field should have an adult (coach or parent) positioned    behind the catcher for passed balls and wild pitches. The adult can throw the   ball directly back to the pitcher.
  • The Home Team is responsible for setting up the field.

-Safety:

  • Only the player batting is allowed to have a bat in his or her hand.   No on deck batter allowed      (little league rule)
  •  A "Reduced Injury Factor" (RIF) ball must be used in all games.  Tennis balls and/or other soft practice balls (e.g., newspaper wrapped in tape) may be used in practice for teaching purposes
  • NO STEALING. NO BUNTING
  • No leading (runners must be on base at time ball is hit)
  • Overthrows: One base on all overthrows.
  • Over outfielders head maximum triple, you must earn it, not automatic.  Over infielders head maximum double, you must earn it, not automatic.
  • Grounder through infield maximum double, you must earn it, not automatic.

-Umpires:

The coach who is pitching shall also provide the umpiring function. All players called “out” on the base paths shall return back to the bench. Coaches should enforce the accepted rules of baseball (i.e. Forced outs, tagged  outs, returning back to their bases after a fly ball has been caught) to enhance the player’s knowledge of baseball. The umpires decision is final.
